I tried a new fruit in my smoothie. Figs. When I grew up figs to me were the kind on a string, and they were dried. I didn't think much of figs because they hurt my teeth to eat. However, today was the first time I tried a fig that was not dried, it was black mission fig. I put 3 in my fruit smoothie, and before I put one of them in the food processor, I cut a slice off, and ate it. I can see how love songs were made about this fruit as it first starts off savory, and then sweet. It has a texture a little softer than an avocado. There is something subversive about it, though. I'm repulsed by the texture but curious about the taste. The texture is that of smooth custard, and I'm not a custard fan. Should be interesting to see what I do with figs in the future.
Also, I put a little raw ginger in my smoothie. It wasn't enough to really notice.
