Coffee Musings - 101507

Well, I went to my first knitting conference. I realized that the classes I took were too advanced for me, so I attended 1.3 out of 6. Instead I hung out at my twin's house and just relaxed. It was an actual vacation. Yippee! Man, I should have vacations more often. Another sister flew in from Holland. She flew a US type world-wind tour of Maryland, St. Louis, and Michigan. She got to see our 96-year old grandma who is being interviewed for a local paper in her town. She still crochets, and she was preparing for the interview as my sister was knitting.

My sister tried to teach me to knit socks, because the class I attended was too advanced, and I was somewhat frustrated. As an older sister I could tell she was frustrated with me, too :) I met her friend who is also an expatriot living in Holland. I guess Holland is the place to be, eh?

I decided to attend a 3-session sock making class. My sister brought up a good question. I wanted to learn how to knit sweaters because of all the cool vintage patterns, and she asked me, Do you wear sweaters? I don't except button down, like the one I'm currently wearing. You know, cardigans that can hang on the back of a chair. Well, I do wear SOCKS! I'll be damned, if after all this money I inappropriately spent on the wrong classes will not inspire to finally put the pedal to the medal and learn how to knit socks by hook or by crook! After this year is done I will have made at least 1 pair. And I have a goal to knit the socks in a Nancy Bush book.
