Coffee Musings - 102007

I recently rented two movies I LOVE, and I saw in the theatre one movie I didn't love, but I'm glad I saw it. The movies I loved are The Sweet Land, and Surf's Up. The Sweet Land is a reflection of mass hysteria of the early 1900's, and within that hysteria, and winds of change, the age old remedy of love conquers all. It is a sweet story, timed well, and the facial expressions of the acting is very good. It's based on a short story. Because of the stoicism of the county folk, and the language barrier between the two main characters, facial expressions tell a lot. I think the main actor really knew that. It looked like he was always conflicted. The main actress seemed to have a little more fun with it.

Surf's Up was cool in that the right voices were used, and it was just fun to watch. Pearl Jam's Big Wave is in the movie, which floored me. I guess they have added songs to movies before, and I guess I usually don't see those movies. I wished I knew how to surf, and then I forget that I'm scared of the water. Oh well, time to learn to knit, eh?

The movie I recently saw in the movie theater is The Darjeeling Limited. It was ok. I'm glad I wasn't inspired to see it again. The last time I saw a movie in the movie theater I ended up seeing it 10 times OOOOPS!
