Many of us coffee connoisseurs incorporate coffee rituals into the daily rituals of life. For instance, we may prefer certain mugs if and only if we have the certain coasters to accompany them on certain tables. Clashing is a no-no in the coffee connoisseur world as is expired milk.
When we deviate from these rituals it is a clear sign that the aroma of a new coffee blend is about to permeate our humble existence, or it is a sign that we need that coffee more than we need a winning lottery ticket.
I was brewing coffee on this wonderful snow (ice) day near Washington DC. I removed my sleek, shiny, blue Library of Congress mug, and the Library of Congress pot holder from their respective resting places. I was about to pour the cold milk into my Library of Congress mug. However, I NEVER pour the milk into my Library of Congress mug or any other mug before I pour in the COFFEE. I almost poured myself a cup of milk with a splash of coffee. Needless to say, this was one of those days I really needed that cup-o-joe.
