Coffee Musings - 071407

Yesterday, it didn't reach 90 degrees. I started a class on photoshop on Monday so I decided to walk to the class location to get my bearings before Monday. If streets in DC were easy to follow I would just have to walk 18 blocks west, and about 10 blocks north. That should take about an hour. However, I ended up walking 2 hours. Instead of ending up at 35th and 18th in Georgetown I ended up at 27th and 36th near the National Cathedral. Luckily it wasn't 90 degrees, but it was pretty hot in the sun, and there was plenty of sun. I saw a lot of the embassy houses, including the Embassy of Iraq, and I wondered if it was empty. I saw a monument to the poet that wrote "The Prophet." I tripped, and since I had already walked about 1.5 hours I wondered if I was tired, or maybe I'm old. I tripped to my hands and knees, and have scrathes on my hands. When I looked back at where I tripped, I wondered if law suits had already been levied against the city for that big big big bump in the sidewalk. Who created that sidewalk. It is definitely a health hazard! Ohmygawd, the last time I saw a bump in the sidewalk that big was the day after a hurricane swept through suburban NJ in 1979. Dang! It was at that time that I started to ask a friend of my mom's to help me out. He died years ago, and was a priest, and he taught at Georgetown. If there is a guardian that would help me out that day, wouldn't it be him. That's when I saw a Whole Foods, and a Vespa shop. :)

For some odd reason, after walking 2 hours I really wanted to see The Way We Were, so I bought it. Robert Redford, and Barbara Streisand just don't have chemistry on screen. I can see how opposites attract, but man, no chemistry. Big dud in chemistry. So much space between them at all times. They played their individual roles fine and dandy, but what a space within their relationship. It wasn't convincing that they had what could gel into a marriage.
