Lack of Coffee Musings - 121107

Man, I can not wait for the coffee machine from the twin's family for Christmas. I've had some pretty awful coffee, instant and otherwise, and I think it's time to get back into the craft of taste.

Actually, I tried a new cookbook, Betty Crocker's Cookie Book, and I baked a fresh-mint chip cookie. I was able to include the thinly sliced mint, but I couldn't find mint chips. So, instead I used mint extract and candy-coated kisses. I was going to call them the Minty-Kiss cookies, but instead I called them I Almost Followed the Recipe cookies :) The nice mint flavor is actually better on the second day. The cookies were a little hard for me. Pretty standard home baked cookie. Needs another egg.

Also, I attended the Silver Spring Knitters (SSK) meeting at Adago Wine Cellars last night. What a nice meeting. It's a group of people that used to meet at Savory Cafe, and just transferred to Silver Spring. It made sense. Savory doesn't have good light in the nighttime, and the food's not that great. It's every Tuesday. I'm pretty excited that I have a place near by to go to instead of trekking it to Politics & Prose a couple times a month. Not that P&P is not an option, but SSK is just so much more convenient. And the knitters were wearing UBER-COOL glasses. At least 60% of the knitters were wearing glasses, and all of them were totally cool. I fit right in :) Many of them are on Ravelry.com, and I wasn't the only one who noticed the group listed on Ravelry.com.
