I live close enough to my twin that I can do my laundry at her house, and hang out with her kids, or babysit if she needs me to. Actually, it's nice to see her no matter what, but having a place to do my laundry is an added plus of living so near her. They recently bought fancy machines that think for me. It's great!
However, I was not able to see her this weekend, so I have to do my laundry using the machines at my apartment facility. Here I am on a Monday morning, after a snowstorm doing my laundry, waiting for the workday to start. Three cheers for telecommuting! Can you believe they up-d the price?! $1.50 for a wash and a dry each. Man, it's like we're suppose to be made of quarters. I sense this trend in the increased price of laundry coincides with an increase in price of postage stamps. What can you do? There are truly no alternatives. Well, with postage stamps, I guess there's always banking online or whatever, but sending a note in the snail mail is kindof cool.
When I lived in Seattle I, like many people, waited until the last minute to do my laundry. However, I strategized WHEN I would do it based on history of use in my apartment complex. In other words when others were out partying I was doing my laundry :) One time, though, when I had it all planned to do it at a certain time, my apartment manager forgot to tell me that the laundry area was off limits because the floor was being painted. That resulted in the only time I used Sit-N-Spin. It was definitely different. I remember that I banged my head on some sharp thing taking my laundrey out of the washer. Also, I remember that it was a lot of fun to just watch the laundry spin and spin and spin in the dryer. Also, I remember that I felt like one of the losers surrounding me doing their laundry. What a chore to do laundry outside of one's home. Yuck. I had to do that in Evanston, Illinois, too when I lived near the corner of Noyes and Ridge. Bring a book or homework!
