Mirrors and Swords within my favorite month of the year.
A mirror only contains as much value as that which looks into it places on it. For instance, if someone says you mirror my soul or your words mirror my words or your thoughts mirror my thoughts those statements can only be of value as long as the person who is the mirror wants to be, and as long as the person using the mirror as a metaphor is willing to continue to look.
If you look into a mirror and then leave, the mirror's value has decreased exponetially, dramatically. It could fit in a thrift shop if no one looks into it, and it could still be of little value. It has only one purpose, to reflect the truth.
A sword cuts, and it can kill, but in fog it can save. Fog can be described as thick as pea soup. What better to cut the fog than a sword? Not only will it slice the fog, but whatever light is available from street lamps can be directed at the sword, and by doing so the power of light increases exponetially. It doesn't just cut like a sword, but it becomes a beacon, a lighthouse. What light is not attracted to a sword, they all gravitate towards it. It's like they are the water, and a sword is the glass. If sunlight finds the sword it could burn through wood, and it could burn through fog.
