Coffee Musings - 070307

I'm still reading Harvest for Hope. I'm glad I'm reading this. I seem to gravitate towards subjects of healthy food/healthy earth intensely now. It must be something in the cards. My favorite PodCast is Compassionate Cooks, I bought my first vegan cookbook, I'll probably be a labeled vegetarian by the end of the month. I may even cook tofu correctly by the end of the month:)

With the farm factory operation practices outlined in Harvest for Hope there is no reason to continue to eat non-organic non-humanely farmed animals. I don't know why there is a big push for meat anyway. It is a class status, or historically has been associated with upper classes. That's a no brainer, really. The first item to get off the menu during war would be beef because of the expense. Well, there is a war with the land. Those that make chemicals for warfare are doing it with the land, and the factory produced animals. Just the thought of factory produced animals' waste into the Gulf of Mexico is enough for someone to stop eating meat. It may take a few generations of us to eat vegetarian for the water and soil to heal. We must focus on buying food from farmers that respect the earth and the animals as sentient beings. We could do it.
