Tea Musings - 111507

I attended a knitting group at Politics and Prose, and something strange yet wonderful revealed itself. Knitting groups at bookstores are the new bar scene. It's true! I remember a video I saw of Kramerbooks, and how the staff remarked that they noticed more internet first dates meeting there. How certain people just looked like they were there to meet someone for the first time.

So, here I am knitting with a few other women, and a poet man, and one knitter arrives who just had a bad internet date. Well, I've been on internet dates a couple times, so I felt her pain. As she remarks on her date, someone who was browsing the books nearby started up a conversation with her, and gave her his phone and name so that he could introduce her to his friends. (?!) Also, as I left I realized there are mostly men in this store right now (?!) Shit, why did it take me so long to clue in. The ultimate place for me to find my soul mate is while I'm knitting in the middle of an independent bookstore. Who'd knew :) Should be fun or at least productive.
