I woke up and finished Unless by Carols Shields. It seems as if the past 24 hours have opened a new door on my life. Last night I decided that this morning I would walk to work and from work to farther metro stops than I usually do. In other words my walk to work will be longer. I've done this before, but sometimes I have to remind myself how much I like it. No wonder I wear clogs. They are the ultimate walking-in-the-city shoe.
The deal with Unless, is that I have never read a novel that was so blatently feminist, and even all the reviews of it point that out, and yet, that along with the exceptional craft of writing is what makes it an incredibly great novel. She can write sharp humor, and all the characters are well developed, and it's just amazing.
