Happy October! Usually, I start to watch Christmas DVDs today, and I start to listen to Christmas music today, but this year I'll probably wait until it's colder. The only explanation I can give for my delayed holiday spirit is the Orioles. I have been following them for the past month, and they have taken up a lot of my mental space. I haven't had time to prepare for October 1st as the beginning of my holiday season, so I guess it isn't. This is a first in many years. October 1st has been the start of my holiday season for many years. No wonder people enjoy baseball. It puts the proper persepectives on holidays. Also, man is baseball addictive. I was listening to it on the radio yesterday, until the O's were doing too badly to listen, and I couldn't read. It grabs all attention. I could only needlepoint if that. Definitely the type of activity to listen to and knit at the same time. Better to watch in person then I wouldn't feel like a sloth just listening to it. Next year, I'm going to follow the O's hopefully for the entire season, and we'll see what happens, eh?
I watched a movie yesterday that I never heard of, but it was in the new releases section of the video store: The Sweet Land. It was really nice! I would definitely recommend it on video. It was probably a good date movie in the theatres, too. The colors are crisp, and the story seems right on for what was going on during that time period. A lot of challenges in so many ways.
I already talked to the person at work who works with me on the cookie project. I'll start baking cookies again next weekened. My sister comes into town next weekend from Holland. I decided that my recipes for the cookie giving will be one recipe per weekend, 100 pieces, and it can be a recipe I've tried already. In other words, I'm going to make life easier for me. Just one recipe, and I don't have to pull my hair out trying a new recipe. I can still do that for work, but with a bulk baking I'll make it easier on me. A lot of chocolate chip recipes :) My cookie empress poetry book will then be based on just baking and not on number of different recipes. That's cool. I almost made 100 different recipes, but I was running out of recipes I tried to bake. I think doing them for work only, one new recipe at a time would be easier, and I won't burn out so much.
