Well, I really need to buy anything I can at Safeway and not Whole Foods or the Takoma Park Co-op. It is a very hard thing to do. For 13 years I've felt proud of myself for buying organically and supporting locally. Now, due to finances I really have to hunker down, and decrease costs. Of course, I'm not good at that :) However, Safeway is probably the first place to start. I'm going to bake cookies for my co-workers, and for the first time in years I'm going to use non-free range non-organice eggs, and pesticide/antiobiotic laden dairy products. I hope I don't cause anyone cancer.
I'm starting to think of my goals. These are not New Years goals even though they will merge into that. They are once the instant-coffee-is-gone goals. I'm just not into instant coffee with milk because it leaves an extra feeling on the top of my mouth like shortening in pies or oreos. Anyway, I'll just drink tea in the morning, or on special occasions I'll buy cappuccino, but no more coffee at home. I've lost interest in what I offer myself at home.
So, once my instant coffee is gone I will eat fruit/nuts/seeds in the morning, then have a big lunch, and then cheese/crackers/fruit for dinner. In this way I'll be energized for a morning run, but a big dinner won't bother my stomach the next morning. Morning exercise is a big life change also. I've done it before, but it's a chore, you know. I'm not warmed up, but once it's over it's over :) Another instant coffee goal is to knit a sock/week, and to read 40 pages/day.
